It has been crazy busy for the last two weeks. Tomio graduated, I finished teaching in Sacramento, we packed and cleaned out of our Sacramento house, put our house on sale, and now we have moved back to the bay area!
We are still living out of our boxes. Even though we spent lots of time unpacking, there is still much to be done. Tomio started his residency this week. Topher and I have been cleaning and unpacking. We get distracted very easily by toys, food, naps, and people to hangout with. At the rate that we are unpacking, I think we'll be doing this for many more weeks... I can't believe how much we've accumulated in the last four years. I just hope that we finish unpacking before I start work at Nvidia in August.
Now that we are back in the bay area, Topher gets to play with Jocelyn almost everyday. He calls her "Ja-Ja". Topher gets very excited when he sees Jocelyn (or when he knows he will see Jocelyn). He started to hug her from her back. But I think it scares Jocelyn, especially Topher hugs so tightly :( Since we've moved, Topher's vocabulary increased at an amazing rate. I wonder if it is because he gets to interact with more family members. He calls grandma "um-ma", uncle sam "du", tree "shou", and flower "hua". Most of these words are in chinese with the exception of uncle sam. He tries to call uncle sam in taiwanese, but it comes out as "du" for some reason.
We are enjoying our time with family and friends. Since I don't start work until August, I'm free to hangout! If anyone wants to catch up, let us know! :)

Update
What we did in the last couple of months:
* Visited my parents in Taiwan in December. And we got to play with Jocelyn!

* Tomio interviewed in the bay area, Davis, Seattle, and LA. Topher and I tagged along with him to Seattle and made it a family vacation.

* Topher learned to crawl and stand up with support.

What we are doing now:
* We are all trying to get over a cold :( It's been a miserable week.
* Tomio is back in Sacramento after being away for 2 weeks. He started school again this week.
* Topher just got his first hair cut this week. (It's a sign that Topher needs a hair cut when people ask me if he was a boy or a girl when he's wearing blue). How does he look?

* Topher is going through separation anxiety. It's so hard to leave him at daycare in the morning.
* Topher loves to play with Oski! He calls Oski "da!"

* Enjoying our time with Topher.

Looking forward to:
* Our parents coming to visit in February.
* Topher's 1st birthday.
* Finding out where we will be for the next couple of years based on Tomio's residency match.
* Tomio's graduation in June.

Time change
Topher and I got to church right on time today. Since Topher was born, we rarely make it on time because we are always scrambling to get out of the door. It didn't matter if we wake up at 6am or 8am to leave by 9am, somehow we still ended up late at church. I was so excited that we would be able to worshop right when it starts (at 9:30am) until the first person we ran into told me that it's only 8:30am. Sigh... at least we are early this time.
Ever since Tomio is away, spiders in the house have been "saved". I have made a list of where the spiders are/were so that Tomio can take care of them when he comes back. It has become a daily routine for me to check those specific locations and make sure that the spiders are still there. To my disappointment, one spider has moved and disappeared from one of the locations :( I can't wait for Tomio to come back in 3 days.

Crazy Month
Tomio is on an away rotation in the bay area this month. I think this is the longest period of time that we are apart from each other since we got married! Life is more chaotic without Tomio around. But Topher and I have survived the first 2 weeks, 2 more weeks to go!
Topher started to say "da da" last week. I'm not sure what/who his "da da" sounds are referring to since Tomio was not around. Since then, I have been trying to teach him "ma ma". The most I got out of him was "mmmmm" when he is grumpy.
There are things that I never thought I would do before we had Topher. So when we received this USEFUL "gadget" as a baby gift, I was not sure if and when I would ever use it. The idea of sucking on someone's nose just seems very strange and yucky.
But when Topher got sick and was extremely congested and uncomfortable, this snut sucker became the best thing that made Topher happy. I won't go into detail of how it works, it's pretty self-explanatory...
Here are some recent photos of Topher. He can do lots of things now!
Growing out of his carseat.

Making a mess with peas puree.

Sour apple puree!

Sitting up and eating his book.

Eating banana.

Topher and I plan to visit the bay area next weekend. Anyone available to play?
